The Wimbledon Championships are one of the oldest tennis tournaments in the world, and to some the most prestigious. It is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments in the world and the only one that still plays on grass.
Players are admitted to the Wimbledon Championships based on their international ranking. Outside of the ranking and a few wild cards that are given out. The other opportunity to be part of the Wimbledon Championships are to participate in the qualifying competition at the Bank of England site, Roehampton.
This event takes place one week prior to the Wimbledon Championships.
This is where we installed a variety of stretch tents to add to the temporary structure infastructure all over the site to assist housing staff and guests.
We installed 2 x 6x9m stretch in chino, a 6x9m truss structure with a chino stretch on top, which was internally weighted due to it being sited on a hard standing tennis court, which was an overflow for the Ball Girls and Boys catering area.
The mains feature was 4 15×10.5m stretch tents linked together creating a 15x42m covered area which was great for the guests to sit out the sun or rain and to watch the matches on a large screen close by.
All stretch tents were finished off with WH Silverbacks orange tennis balls on the pegs, no one is going to trip over them now!
The qualifying competition is an amazing opportunity for those interested in tennis who are unable to get to the Wimbledon Championships to view some great tennis. No ballot, and affordable tickets its open to everyone. With new up and coming tennis starts and some of the classic players returning to the scene its great tennis viewing all round.
